Report Spam via IMAP Using Outlook

You can report spam via our special IMAP system using your own third-party email client.

IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) is a standard email protocol that stores email messages on a mail server, and allows email clients to access those messages remotely.

Hosted Cloud

In order to access your messages stored in the Spam Experts Quarantine, from an email client (such as Outlook), using IMAP, you need to set up your email clients with the following Spam Experts credentials:

  • IMAP hostname:
  • IMAP Port: 993
  • IMAP username: Either domain username or email username (these need to exist in Spam Experts first)
  • IMAP Password: The password for the above username.

Local Cloud

For Local Cloud users, you need to replace "" with your primary server's hostname.

These steps are the same/similar for Outlook 2007.

  1. Open your account settings. In 2010 this is located in the File > Account Settings > Account Settings.
  2. Select manual configuration.
  3. Choose "Internet E-Mail"
  4. Enter your information. The password used is the password you use to login at for that domainname. If you do not have your password, you can retrieve it.
  5. Click on "More Settings" to give the account a better name such as "Training Account".
  6. Close the window and finish the wizard.
  7. If everything was successful, you will see these folders in your sidebar.

Outlook 2011 Apple-Mac

The configuration above will also work for Office 2011 Mac version, however to see the full list of subscribed IMAP folders you need to change one setting:

  1. Navigate to 'Preferences'.
  2. Click on 'General'.
  3. Un-check the box that says 'Group Similar Folders'.

You should now be able to see the full list of IMAP folders in the left pane window.
