Site Installation Package
Site Installation Packages are created from the Dashboard Agent menu when logged in as a user with Site Installation Package permissions enabled.
To support different deployment methods, two options are available:
Agent.msi and associated package.zip compressed file.
Designed for software deployment over a network via Group Policy
Agent_*.exe compressed file.
For user self-deployment. Unpack the file and click the executable to install.
This installer is aimed at non-Active Directory networks or for Active Directory computers (laptops) that are infrequently connected to the network.
The Site Installation Package contains the login credentials of the package creator with the password encrypted.
These credentials are only used for the initial Dashboard validation when deploying the Agent and once installed, the Agent subsequently uses unique identifiers for Dashboard communication.
To avoid authentication problems if the credentials (username or password) used to create the Site Installation Package change, we suggest generating a new package based on the update credentials then use this for subsequent Agent deployments.
As part of the installation process, the Agent automatically queries the computer to determine whether it is a server or workstation then installs in the corresponding mode.
Please be aware that server not workstation prices are applied when installing the Agent in Server Mode on a workstation.
Network Installer (deprecated)
Agents prior to v10.5.16 RC include the option to create a Network Installer (Group Policy) from their File menu. Support for this option was removed from Agent v10.5.16 RC onwards.
