Remote Monitoring & Management Help

Depending on the script or the level of permissions of the user account the Agent service is running under it may be necessary to change this account to that with a higher level of permissions for the script to complete.

This can be achieved from the Services console (Start -> Run -> services.msc) right-click the Advanced Monitoring Agent then go to Log On and select This account entering a user with enhanced privileges, OK to save changes and restart the service to apply the new settings.

Local Policies - Reboot Script

When using scripts - in particular the Reboot Script it is necessary - to ensure that the user account the Advanced Monitoring Agent runs as has the correct privileges set in the local security policy.

These privileges are:

  • Shut down the system
  • Force shutdown from a remote system

This is generally not an issue if you’re agent is running as an Administrator user - which will allow the Reboot Script to successfully run.

You can change a systems local security policy with the following steps:

  1. Open the local security policy manager Start -> Run -> secpol.msc
  2. Expand Local Policies
  3. Click User Rights Assignment
  4. Add the user running the agent to the policies:
  5. Shut down the system
  6. Force shuliown from a remote system
  7. To add a user to the Local Security Policy
  8. Double-Click a security policy
  9. Click Add User or Group
  10. Type the name of the user running the Advanced Monitoring Agent (or the group that the user resides) in the Enter the object names to select section and click Check Names
  11. Once the required users are selected OK all opened dialogs.
  12. Local Security Policy should now show the added user in its summary.
