Accounts - Apple iOS

E-Mail

The Apple iOS Mobile Device Management Policy supports multiple e-mail accounts.

To enter an account click add_iconAdd, populate the required information then mdm_accounts_saveSave once complete.

The Description and Account Type of any entered accounts is displayed in the E-Mail dialog window.

Click add_icontoAdd another account or highlight an existing account to editEdit or mdm_accounts_deleteRemove.

Identifier for the E-Mail account

Account Type

IMAP, POP

Path Prefix (IMAP)

Enter the IMAP path prefix if required for the account

User Display Name

The name of the user associated with the account

Email address

The e-mail address associated with the account

Allow Move

Allow users to move messages from the account.

Incoming Mail Settings

Mail Server and Port

The domain name or address and port used by the mail server

User Name

User Name associated with the account

Authentication Type

The authentication type configured for the account: None (Prompt), Password, MD5 Challenge-Response, NTLM, HTTP MD5 Digest

Where anything other than None is entered the additional Authentication: Password option is displayed.

Use SSL

Use an encrypted SSL connection to send mail to the mail server

Outgoing Mail Settings

Mail Server and Port

The domain name or address of the mail server

User Name

User Name associated with the account

Authentication Type

The authentication type configured for the account: None (Prompt),

Password, MD5 Challenge-Response, NTLM, HTTP MD5 Digest

Where anything other than None is entered the additional Authentication: Password option is displayed.

Allow Recent Address Syncing

Allows recently used addresses to be synced with other devices via iCloud

Use SSL

Use an encrypted SSL connection to send mail to the mail server

Please note, where the E-Mail address is left blank the user will be prompted to enter the e-mail address and password.

Known Apple iOS 7 issue: when editing an existing email profile, any changes to the Outgoing Mail Settings do not propagate to the device.

 

ActiveSync

The Apple iOS Mobile Device Management Policy supports ActiveSync.

Click add_iconConfigure to add an ActiveSync account and where the account is no longer required click mdm_accounts_deleteRemove Configuration

Specifies the name that refers to the account on the phone.

Exchange ActiveSync Host

The address of the ActiveSync Server

Allow Move

Allow users to move messages from this account.

Use Only in Mail

E-mails can only be sent by the Mail application

Use SSL

Use an encrypted SSL connection to send mail to the Exchange server

Domain

Enter the domain name for the account

User

The user associated with the account.*

E-Mail Address

Password

The password associated with the account.

If a password is not specified the device user will be prompted for their e-mail account password.

Unlimited, One Day, Three Days, One Week, Two Weeks, One Month

Please note, the above information must precisely match the corresponding entries in Active Directory.

* Please be aware that where a specific user or email address is entered each device receiving the configuration profile will apply the same email account settings.
