Edit Managed Antivirus Settings including Migrate Engine

Once installed it may be necessary to revisit the Managed Antivirus settings. For example change the assigned Protection Policy. Select a different scan engine (replace VIPRE with Bitdefender). Move an individual device from Inherited to On i.e. where the device is to use a separate Protection Policy to the other devices. After saving the changes, the Managed Antivirus retrieves the updated configuration the next time it checks-in.

Multiple Devices, Clients and Sites

  1. Go to Settings > Managed Antivirus > Settings
  2. Select the Device level to update. Overall device type (Server or Workstation) down to individual devices
  3. Then depending on the required changes:
    • Alter the Setting
    • Migrate to a different Engine (where available)
    • Select an alternative Policy from the device type drop-downs
  4. OK to save and apply or Reset to clear the current changes

Individual Devices

  1. Right-click on the device in the north pane (or from the Server, Workstation or Mixed drop-down)
  2. Go to Edit <device-type>
  3. Navigate to the Managed Antivirus section
  4. Then depending on the required changes:
    • Alter the Setting
    • Migrate to a different Engine (where available)
    • Select an alternative Policy from the device type drop-downs
  5. OK to save and apply or Reset to clear the current changes

Migration (Windows only)

When migrating between scan engines. The current Managed Antivirus Checks are automatically removed and replaced with those associated with the new engine. As part of this migration, the Dashboard removes all history for the previous product. Like all antivirus solution removals migrating between Managed Antivirus engines requires a reboot to remove any remnants of the uninstalled product. Including those stored in memory. For example, Active Protection.

IMPORTANT: Changing scan engines from VIPRE to Bitdefender triggers the removal of the current Managed Antivirus VIPRE installation on all selected devices.

Only those machines running Advanced Monitoring Agent 9.10.0RC will re-install Managed Antivirus (Bitdefender engine).

We would strongly recommend that all target devices are updated to at least Advanced Monitoring Agent 9.10.0 RC before migrating scan engines from VIPRE to Bitdefender
