VIPRE Engine - Automatically remove the existing Antivirus product with CART - multi-device

The option to automatically remove the existing Antivirus product (where supported) using the Competitor Antivirus Removal Tool (CART) included from Agent 8.16.1RC and later is configured in the Managed Antivirus Settings dialog either when enabling Managed Antivirus or post-install. Please note, this option is configured in the Protection Policy for Bitdefender.

This dialog is accessible for the overall device type server or workstation down to specific Clients and Sites. By default, servers and workstations will inherit policy from site, which will in turn inherit from client, which will in turn inherit policies set for all servers and workstations.

Multiple Devices

  1. Go to Settings > Managed Antivirus > Settings
  2. In the Installation Settings section
  3. Tick the Automatically remove conflicting antivirus products and / or Automatically reboot device when required
  4. Click OK to save changes

Individual Device

  1. Right-click on the device in the north pane (or from the Server, Workstation or Device drop-down)
  2. Managed Antivirus > Settings
  3. In the Installation Settings section
  4. Tick the Automatically remove conflicting antivirus products and / or Automatically reboot device when required
  5. Click OK to save changes

Please note, only supported Antivirus products will be detected. Any Antivirus product not supported will need to be removed manually by running that product's uninstaller.

Where the reboot option is selected, a System Shutdown message is displayed on the remote machine to inform the user of the upcoming restart.

The Summary tab on the Dashboard displays the current state of the removal process, for example removal pending through to Active.

Please note, as part of the Competitor Antivirus Removal Tool process any existing Antivirus Update Checks are automatically removed from the and replaced with the Managed Antivirus Update Check.
