Quarantine

Updating

The Managed Antivirus Agent regularly communicates with our servers to retrieve both threat definitions and engine updates.

Threat Definitions

Enter the number of hours in Update threat definitions every n hour(s) and tick the box to apply.

Engine Updates

Dashboard 6.13.6 introduced the option delay Managed Antivirus Engine updates in the Updating section.

By default engine updates are not delayed (Force engine upgrades after: Immediately). Endpoints will update their engine within 24 hours of its release to the update servers regardless of the day or time.

Where a delay is in effect, endpoints do not download or apply engine updates. Once the delay period expires, the agents take the update the next time they check into the definition servers.

To control when the update takes place. Choose to only permit updates outside of office hours. Over the weekend (Saturday and Sunday Only) or overnight (between 9 PM and 3 AM).

Delaying engine upgrade does not delay the threat definition updates. These will continue to update on their current schedule.

Go to Bitdefender Engine Updates Overview for further information on the engine update.

Managed Antivirus Check Behavior

The Dashboard controls the Managed Antivirus Agent installed on the endpoints. Push commands and receive the uploaded results. For example, receive run scans, release/delete items from quarantine commands. Then upload the scan completion status, quarantine action success or new items quarantined.

As communication is a key factor in successful endpoint protection. A failure is indicated where agent and Dashboard communication is lost.

You can choose to fail the Managed Antivirus Check if it has not checked-in to the Dashboard within the specified threshold. Select the length of inactivity from the drop-down. As each network can be slightly different. You can choose the Check failure threshold. Select the length of inactivity from the drop-down. The Agent's last check-in time appears in the Managed Antivirus Check along with the scan information.

You can also choose to fail the Managed Antivirus Check when there is an item in quarantine. Enable Fail MAV check when threat(s) present in quarantine.

Laptops taken outside of the network may experience sporadic internet connections. To account for this scenario. The Managed Antivirus Check never fails for a laptop if the Managed Antivirus Agent does not check-in to the Dashboard.

Delaying engine upgrade does not delay the threat definition updates. These will continue to update on their current schedule.
