Manage Data Sources

With Backup & Recovery, you can also backup Network Shares, Exchange Information Stores, SQL Server Database Instances and take application aware VMware Snapshots. However, unlike Files and folders or System State, these need backed up on one device only and it would not make sense to configure these across multiple clients and sites and so these are configured on individual servers in the Backup Manager, either opened on the device itself or directly from the Dashboard. Right-click upon the device in the Dashboard or from the Server or Workstation drop-down (after highlighting the machine) then go to Backup & Recovery > Open Backup Manager.

Backup & Recovery Documents for workstations and laptops only supports the Files and folder data source. The Documents version of the Files and folders data source is non-configurable.

Pre-requisites are required for some plugins (data sources) to ensure the backup, and subsequent restore, work as expected with these are covered in the section:

If changes are made to the Schedule, Backup selection or LocalSpeedVault in the Backup Manager, the policy is set at the individual level and the device no longer inherits the policy settings for the overall device type, Client or Site.
