Importing and Exporting Firewall Rules

You can export Firewall Control rules from any EDR Profiles, and import them to another, or even another RMM EDR instance (for example, from a test RMM dashboard for use in a live RMM EDR deployment).

When you import rules, all rules are imported to the currently selected EDR Profile. For example, if you are in an EDR Profile that inherits the Global Firewall Control, policy, and you export the Firewall Control rules and then import them into a different EDR Profile: All Global and EDR Profile rules become EDR Profile rules in the EDR Profile to which you imported.

Tip: To import a list of rules from Management versions before Liberty to Liberty or later, make these changes in the .json file:

Change all instances of os_type to os_types. For example, change "os_type":"windows" to "os_types":"windows"

Exporting Rules

You can export rules to a .json file. All rules for your currently selected EDR Policy are exported. This includes Global rules that apply to the EDR Policy, even if you do not have permissions to edit them.

To export Firewall Control rules from the Management Console:

  1. Edit the EDR Policy where the rules are to be exported from
  2. Select the Network Control tab
  3. Click the Export rules icon - The exported rules download in a .json file to the default Downloads folder of the computer where you actioned the export process
