Custom Scans

Custom Scans are configured in the Risk Intelligence portal and may be accessed from the Custom Scans button when in the Dashboard Policy dialog, or if already in the Risk Intelligence portal go to View and Manage, Scan Configurations.

This section opens at the New Scan Configuration wizard screen.

Select an existing custom scan to Edit, Clone or Delete, or Add Scan Configuration to create a completely new scan.

Choose the scan type, and in Step 2 provide a Scan Configuration Name to uniquely identify the scan in the systems and configure the Scan Options as required, using Next to proceed any subsequent setup screens.

For example Patterns and File Hashes for the File Finder Scan or Data Ruleset for the Data Breach Risk Scan.

Finally review the settings and if satisfied choose Save Scan Configuration, otherwise click Back to amend the settings.

Once the custom scan is setup, it is saved in the Risk Intelligence portal, where it may be amended later if required, and communicated to the Remote Monitoring and Management Dashboard for addition to a device.

There are four scan types available:

Scan Type

Identifies operating system and application patch and security vulnerabilities by severity.

File Finder

Use a File Finder scan to find files on a device matching wildcard strings or MD5, SAH-1 or SHA-256 secure hash formats.

Data Breach Rick Scan

The Security vulnerability and a Data Discovery scan together. Highlighting the security vulnerabilities from the Security scan and identifying the most sensitive data on the device. The Data Discovery scan type may be customized to only look for specific data.

Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) is a set of security standards designed to ensure that all companies that accept, process, store or transmit credit card information maintain a secure environment. We scan devices and format a report that helps identify vulnerabilities and demonstrate PCI DSS 3.2 compliance. This is three scans combined: Security, PCI DSS and PAN.
