From Windows Agent 9.12

Task runs in near realtime

Uploads the results at the next scheduled 24x7 Check upload after the Task's completion

From Windows Agent 10

Automated Tasks with an expired schedule can also be triggered with the Run Task command.

The Mac Agent runs Tasks in near realtime and uploads the results within a few minutes of the task completing.

The Run task action is queued on those devices that were offline when the command was issued. On these devices the Run task action is initiated when the device comes back online and reports back to the Dashboard to receive the command. Note, from Dashboard 6.13.3 Pending Tasks are now stored up to 31 days then (if not applied) removed.
