Remote Monitoring & Management Help

Information on all of the organizations and users configured in the cloud service are displayed under the Organization Tree.

The section uses a tree structure to ease navigation of the organizations and users as well as illustrate the hierarchical structure of the domain, highlighting the association between organizations and users.

Depending upon the company structure, the displayed organizations may correspond to different departments for example Accounts, Sales, Customer Service, IT etc or perhaps different branch locations. Although for some companies there may not be any organizations at all, with all users falling under the domain node.

Organizations are the equivalent of Google Apps,Security Groups in Office 365 Midsize Business editions.

Organizations can be created for all supported editions of Office 365, including those which do not natively incorporate this functionality, for example Office 365 Small Business.

Please note that even though these Dashboard created Organization correspond to Security Groups, they do not match Security Groups in full functionality (similar to the way in which not all Active Directory functionality transferred over to Office 365).

App Control offers multi-domain support for Office 365 and Google Apps. Any multiple domains are automatically added to the Organization Tree which displays the root Account level node, followed by the multiple Domains, Organizations then Users.

Security Groups are not associated with specific domains and to display this within the Office 365 multiple-domain Organization Tree all Organizations are replicated under all domains with Users only appearing under the domain they are associated with.

Information on each node (apart from the account node itself) may be displayed with option to manage add, edit or delete organizations and users as well as view the node state.

Members can be moved between Organizations (and Domains in Office 365) by dragging the User node to the required Organization (or Domain) node. Please be aware that assigning a User to a different domain simply moves their mailbox, therefore the user will no longer receive mail at the previous domain address.

For visibility any notifications related to an item in the organization tree appear as a number above the node. Hovering over this notification displays information on the number and severity of the notifications: Critical, Warning or Message whilst clicking on the number opens the node's Properties dialog at the Alerts tab for additional detail on the issue. Depending on the source backbone service, when clicking on the node notification alert it may display tips on how to follow up on the alert.

The following display and management options are available for this section.

The notification alert button provides a visual indicator of the number of issues currently affecting the service requiring your attention and is based on the current highest severity level.

Click the alert button to display information on all of the unresolved problems of this severity type and select the issue link to open the Notifications tab focused on these specific messages.

Once finished in the notification alert dialog select X to close.

Please note that the notification alert reflects the current highest level of severity. For example if the notification alert displays one critical issue, after resolving this issue any warning level messages are then displayed.

Node Navigation and Options

To differentiate between nodes and their current state we have applied the following color coding:

Client Name (Account) [Root]

Edit Pending on the node and it is locked for editing

Warning notification recorded for organization or user

Critical notification recorded for organization or user

An arrow at the end of an Organization node indicates that it contains children, click on the arrow to expand and click again to collapse.

Double-click on a node to fully expand, or collapse, its entire organizational tree.

Notification flags are displayed in the organization tree for issue node visibility.

When select a node a toolbox is displayed containing the following options, depending on the node type: Close Toolbox, View Additional Properties and Additional Actions.
