Web Page Check

The Web Page Check runs 24x7 to ensure the target page is serving up the entered text; if the text is not there, the Web Page Check fails to indicate that there is something amiss with the site.

Our users use this to...

Even if our users do not support their Client's website, they can use the Web Page Check to say "Even though we don't maintain your website, we'll monitor it anyway and give you a courtesy call when there's something wrong with it."  In short, they're winning more business by using the Web Page Check as an example of the exceptional standard of care they deliver to their customers.

As well as ensure the Client's website is up and running our customers also use this check to:

  • Query an application's browser based interface or publish application information to a webpage and use the Web Page Check to determine whether the required test is, or is not, there.
  • Ensure the ADSL static IP address for the server has not changed. To do this query a ShowMy IP address site and enter the current static IP address as the Expected Text. When the IP address changes the check will fail.

As the check emanates from the Agent, you cannot validate the entered URL and text settings when configuring these checks on the Dashboard. As such, care must be taken when entering these details to ensure an invalid result is not returned.
