AD Agent Mass Deployment Install Instructions

Prerequisites

  • 64-bit
  • Windows Server 2008 R2 and newer
  • Windows Server Core is not supported at this time
  • Domain Admin access on Domain Controller

  • Supports TLS 1.2 or higher. More information on which versions of windows server support which TLS protocols can be found in this article.
  • C++ 2013 Redistubutable and .NET 4.5 installed on target device.
  • Outbound FTP Endpoint: agent.passportalmsp.com port 21 should be enabled (Optional)

Local

  1. Copy the setup/msi/cmd to the machine being installed on.
  2. Open in notepad Silent Install For Passportal Agent v2.cmd.
  3. Update the following parameters to suit the configuration of the service. Be sure to leave the user values in quotes:
    • TARGETDIR="directory location the software will be installed to"
    • EMAIL="Passportal user account"
    • PASSWORD="Passportal account password"
    • PASSPHRASE="Passportal Organization Key"
    • CLIENTNAME="Passportal client name"
    • COUNTRY="Canada, UK or United States (exactly as written here)"
    • DOMAIN="(optional) Name of the domain the agent service account belongs to"
    • DOMAINUSER="Agent service account"
    • DOMAINPASSWORD="Agent service account"
    • INSTALLTYPE="type of installation package Agent (standard install) or ListenerOnly (for secondary DCs.) or AgentWithMSOL (for azure/Office365)"
    • LISTENIP="IP address of Primary DC (only required when installing ListenerOnly on secondary DCs
    • LISTENPORT=this is optional and only required if you want to open a different port then the default port 7771
  4. Verify the Passportal & Passportal Updater services are present and running.
  5. If the above services are not started, check the installer.log (where the CMD was executed), the PPSync.log and the PServ.log files (directory targetfolder\logs) for troubleshooting.

Network

  1. Copy the setup/msi/cmd to shared location on the network accessible by all machines.
  2. Open in notepad Network Install For Passportal Agent v2.cmd.
  3. Update the following parameters to suit the configuration of the service. Be sure to leave the user values in quotes:
    • \\TargetMachine – replace this with the target machine id on both the first and second line.
    • "DOMAIN\Username" – replace this with system credentials sufficient to perform a network installation on the target machine on both first and second line.
    • “Password” – replace this with password accompanying the above system account on both the first and second line.
    • \\NetworkLocation\Passportalx64.msi - replace this with the network shared location of the Passportal msi (must be visible to machine executing this cmd file).

    • DOMAINUSER="Agent service account"
    • DOMAINPASSWORD="Agent service account"
    • INSTALLTYPE="Type of installation package Agent(standard install) or ListenerOnly(for secondary DCs.) or AgentWithMSOL(for Azure/Office365)"
    • LISTENIP="IP address of Primary DC (only required when installing ListenerOnly on secondary DCs)"
    • LISTENPORT="this is optional and only required if you want to open a different port then the default port 7771"
  4. Verify the Passportal & Passportal Updater services are present and running on the target machine
  5. If the above services are not started, check the installer.log (where the CMD was executed), the PPSync.log and the PServ.log files (targetfolder\logs directory) for troubleshooting clues

Remove the installer from all devices once installed successfully.
