Starting the Backup Manager
After the installation, the Backup Manager opens as a web application (see instructions below).
On Windows, open the Start menu with the list of installed applications and click Backup Manager.
To start the Backup Manager on macOS, do the following:
- Open the Finder.
- From the Sidebar, choose Applications.
- Click the Backup Manager icon.
Ensure you enable Full Disk Access for the Backup Manager before running backups on macOS 10.14 (Mojave) or later.
Option A: from the host machine
Open a web browser and enter
http://IP:5000 to the address bar.
IPneeds to be replaced with the IP address of your Linux machine.
5000is the default port number allocated to the Backup Manager. If this port number is taken, the Backup Manager will use the next available one starting from
If you want to set another port number, do the following:
- Change the
HttpServerPortparameter in the Backup Manager configuration file (Updating configuration file). For example:
- Enter your IP address with the new port number to your browser, for example
Option B: directly from a local network (legacy)
In versions before to 18.6, it is possible to connect to the Backup Manager directly from a local network. Here are steps to follow:
- Log in to a Linux computer in your local network.
- Open a web browser and enter
http://IP:portto the address bar.
IPneeds to be replaced with the IP address of the Linux computer on which the device is installed.
portneeds to be replaced with the exact port number allocated to the Backup Manager on that computer.
- Enter your access credentials (device name and password).
Option C: through a remote connection
You can establish remote connections to backup devices installed locally and remotely.
- Start the Console.
- In the Device management module, open the action menu for the device you want to launch.
- Select the Launch backup client option.
