Add a firewall rule to allow network printing

When using the firewall module of Security Manager, users may have difficulty printing to a network printer. You need to create firewall rules to allow print data to pass through the firewall to the printer.

Configure the application rule.

  1. Go to Configuration > Security ManagerProfiles and select the firewall profile.
  2. Click View Settings for the Firewall module, then click Rules.
  3. Click AddApplication Rule.
  4. Enter the name for the printer application rule.
  5. In the Application Path, select Specific paths from the drop-down menu and enter C:\Windows\System\spoolsv.exe.
  6. Set the Local Address and Remote Address to Any.
  7. Set the Protocol to 6 - TCP.
  8. Set the Permission to Allow.
  9. Click Save.

Configure the connection rule.

  1. Click AddConnection Rule.
  2. Enter a name for the connection rule.
  3. Select the Local Address to Any.
  4. Set the Protocol to 6 - TCP, Direction to Both and IP Version to Any.
  5. Set the Permission to Allow.
  6. Click Save.

Devices will now be able to print over the network.
